A Not-So-Quick Quickie

It feels great to be back home for a short break! It certainly is well-deserved after a couple of weeks away from home and instead, traversing the grounds of my campus, more fondly known as 'The Holy Land' to quite a number of students. A LOT has happened so far through out my studies here, thanks to the volleys of obstacles and assignments hurled at me from the Dreaded (at least to some people) Universe of Academics and All Its Books, and some extra dashes of sugar and spice from the campus society. The stuff thrown from the academic universe is nothing to complain about really. In fact it is to be expected. What's the point of entering a university if you don't want to go on face-to-face battling the challenges of various assignments and presentations? But the stuff going on with the campus society is completely different story altogether! Today, I'd like to share a few random observations I've made regarding the happenings in campus and campus society/life-related stuff...

1. It's kind of funny when a group of people assume that the public is dumb, and instead of attempting to make things clear and much easier to digest (because that's the logical thing to do if your audience can't understand you!), they actually act dumb themselves. The result? They appear dumb! Some people should understand that we're already in a university, and to be studying in a university means that you have to at least have quite some knowledge, innit? :) People, oh people!

2. Speaking of people, some people can be really funny, so funny they could Mr Bean a run for his money! You know, I've never really held a grudge towards anyone, and no matter how much crap is thrown at me, I do forgive the person no matter what. But to witness one slowly walking away and almost dropping a book, the other donning a mask to 'hide', and another walking backwards, all because of the sight of someone, is a bit too much, don't you think?

3. Is it just me, or are the posters in campus really not checked at all in any way? The horrendous (and somewhat humorous) errors on the posters is one thing (scroll down to my earlier post and look at the 'Robbing Room' sign!), but the looks of the posters... They just... They just look sad! :( I've yet to see a poster in campus that can really get my attention, in a good way!

4. Names and slogans. The campus has a knack for coming up with really odd ones, so odd, you'd wonder just what on Earth were they thinking when they came up with it! Somebody should change the 'Please "Use Me"' catchphrase on the rubbish bins because honestly, I find the "Use Me" part DISTURBING!!! And, 'Evoke i Cafe'? Hmmm... I guess the food there is supposed to 'evoke' our senses... Ok... that sounds.... Weird!!! But I have nothing against the food they serve, though. I LOVE the food there, and actually dine there quite often! But the name is always something that would make a good conversation over lunch!

5. THIS:

Ok, most probably you're going to say "So Nazriq is going to say that it's supposed to be 'beware' instead of 'be aware', and that it should be 'this area IS under...'". Well, that's one thing, but not exactly what I want to blog about. What I want to mention here is... the place this sticker is pasted...

I found it pasted... On... A TOILET DOOR.

Maybe I should be less observant next time! :S

I should save the rest I've to say for the next post! So until next time...
